Day 3. Hampton Court. The perfect end to a lovely

Day 3. Hampton Court. The perfect end to a lovely 3 days with my museum buddy. These trips will be some of my best memories of parenting him. He misses out on a lot of me because of gymnastics, but we cram a lot of perfection into our London adventure.

Day 2. After a fabulous breakfast and then unexpec

Day 2. After a fabulous breakfast and then unexpectedly finding every tube line in our area of London closed, we diverted back into town by bus and went to Sealife, followed by the truly magnificent Rameses II exhibition at Battersea. Finished the day with a memorable walk back to Kensington through Battersea Park and Chelsea, then Bene’s favourite pizza for tea. I didn’t expect to enjoy sealife so much but actually it was quite mesmeric and the Egypt exhibition has really inspired me. Another perfect day with my museum buddy.

Day one of our London trip for 2026; the London mithraeum, which was both free and really interesting, a mini pilgrimage to the walbrook river and the London stone, an unexpected blue plaque discovery of a relative, the Jurassic ocean exhibition at the NHM and then the truly excellently funny Beetlejuice. I can’t recommend staying at Imperial College highly enough either; it’s just a perfect base for a London adventure for me and the boy because everywhere is (usually!) easy to access from it, there are good places to eat, museums on your doorstep for an hours entertainment and it always feels safe and friendly to be there into the evening. A perfect first day.
